Looking for a new adventure? Try traveling by train. It may not be the fastest like air travel, or convenient like a personal car or even the cheapest like taking a bus. Riding on a train will give you a completely different view of the world and will become one of the most unique experiences in your life. There are a number of things to consider while making your travel plans. Where do you wish to travel? How long of a trip would you like to take? Do you want to travel by train abroad in Europe?
It is not uncommon for a train ride to have an unstable schedule. Prepare for a long ride and make sure you don?t set any activities at your ending point for a time that is near to a time that you are supposed to get off. There is a large likelihood of your train being late or early for that matter. You should also be prepared for the ride itself. Pack things to do such as reading, which is a perfect activity to do on a train due to the smoothness and potential quietness of the ride. Make sure you have plenty of your favorite reading material on hand.
Another good idea is to bring along some kind of writing activities, since most trains have a flip down table or tables available in the dining or bar cars. You can do crossword puzzles if you enjoy them. Some other good ideas are to catch up on writing some personal letters, write in your journal, or maybe some word searches or jumbles. One thing to remember to bring is a CD player or maybe your i pod, that way you can sit back relax and watch the scenery go by all while listening to your favorite music. Most people really enjoy the scenery on train rides so take some time to really study and enjoy the passing landscapes.
Don?t let smaller kids interrupt your relaxation. Make sure to take games and fun activities that they can do to make time go by faster for them. A pillow is a necessity so they can feel comfortably at home as well.
A train ride is also a place to meet new people while being respectful of others alone time. Your children may enjoy meeting other children, which will make their time more enjoyable.
Last but not least, do not forget to visit the dining or caf? car. Stop in for a cup of coffee and a quick snack. If you prefer you can go at meal times and have a full fresh meal with your family. These are all pleasant ways to keep yourself occupied on long train trips.
