There are many areas you can visit if you want to take a ski holiday in Europe. There are many countries that have fantastic ski terrain that are ideal for winter sports. For many years people only traveled to France, Switzerland, Austria, Andorra and Italy. Today people take a ski holiday wherever they can find mountains covered in snow.

France is a popular ski holiday destination as it has the French Alps and is also close proximity to the UK. Additionally France has the largest lift and piste system in the world. There are many ski chalets found in France including some of the world’s best; Meribel, Tignes, Courchevel, Val D’Iseres, Alpe D’Huezs and Chamonix.

The second most popular place to ski in Europe is Austria. Besides excellent skiing Austria’s scenery and top class service and attention to detail are world class. Austria has chalets that cater to all levels of athletes. Besides it world class skiing it also has excellent aprs skiing.

Some of the most difficult skiing in the world can be found in Switzerland. The Swiss Alps has the toughest and highest ski runs in the world. Swiss ski chalets were built around existing towns so there is a lot of culture to experience as well as skiing, something that French ski chalets may lack. Besides the very advanced ski trails there are some chalets designer for the intermediate skier.

Skiing in Italy is generally less expensive than France, Switzerland and Austria because skiing is not the first thing that comes to mind. However Italy does have a section of the Alps at its northern border. The skinning in Italy is perfect for beginners and intermediates. Italy’s ski areas also have the most runs in Europe with the Sella Rhonda in the Dolomites. Italian ski resorts are a blend of the old and new creating a fantastic holiday experience.
