Traveling to Budapest for Christmas is an enjoyable and extraordinary trip. This Christmas, my family and I are about to embark on this journey for our third time. An event that is popular to both foreign and Hungarian tourists alike, the Christmas Market in Budapest is an event of high standards and traditions.

If you’re looking for a place that exudes Christmas spirit you should take in Budapest’s official Christmas Market that is held every year; no matter where you’re from you’ll be impressed at the level of Christmas spirit all around you. The main tourist event in Budapest is the Market and is a popular event for Hungarians and foreign travelers to travel to and often most travel just to visit the Christmas Market. The Christmas Market is one of the largest events in Budapest and has become internationally well-known and respected due to the ever changing high quality programs that it boasts. The location in which the Christmas Market is held in is the very beautiful square known as Vorosmarty square and is located in the center of Budapest.

Only the best of the Hungarian craftspeople are invited to Budapest’s Christmas Market to sell their handmade products. The traditional Hungarian craftsman showcase their talents by handcrafting the products they sell and only use materials of the highest quality such as intricate porcelain, cut glass and leather goods. Quality is assured by the Hungarian Society of Folk Arts.

The market also has a culinary. Don’t forget to taste traditional Hungarian food and cakes: strudel, grilled sausages and meat, Christmas cookies, kurtos kalacs (hollow, cylinder-shaped pastry with different coatings: sugar, walnut). If you get tired, have a cup of coffee with a delicious Hungarian cake in Gerbeaud Cafe.

Something that is new to the Christmas program in Budapest is that the real Santa Claus from Finland is going to be there this year to listen to the wishes of the children who are visiting the Christmas Market. A very important aspect to the Christmas Market program is the Advent calendar.

This amazing festival is located in Vorosmarty Square which is situated in the heart of the city and is easily among the ten best Christmas markets in Europe. Many tourists plan a vacation to Budapest just so they can experience the market.

Just like any well run tourist city, you will not have any difficulty finding a Budapest hostel if you look on the web before your vacation.

Whether you’re a tourist or a local of Budapest, the Christmas fair is an event that is favored by everyone. If you are looking for something that is very special and can’t be found anywhere else for your loved one, come get it at the Budapest Christmas fair.
