You can eat as cheaply or as expensively as you want, on Ambergris Caye. Most resorts and hotels have a dining room and/or bar on the water. George’s has good food and is convenient. Rico’s is a little longer walk along the beach, and is quite expensive, but the service and the food are great. For authentic local food, eat at the Reef, downtown.

You can walk or bicycle to most places on Ambergris. There are taxis and rental golf carts. Beware of the parking restrictions in downtown San Pedro and there are no lines on the streets. There are speed bumps everywhere and a few signs.

Nature lovers will find much to see on Ambergris. Caribbean Villas Hotel has a “people perch” to view the birds and tree tops from. Bring your camera. Back on the ground you will find geckos and chameleons darting around. Sit on any beach and watch frigate birds, osprey,eagles, and gulls. If you are lucky you will see dolphin swim by.
